Yes but its not like I'm going to heaven if I was straight

First off it was Umrah, not Haj.
Secondly, going there isn't going to change my opinion, my thoughts are the result of YEARS of research, me being there only strengthened my belief which I believe will happen to anyone if you stand that close to the ka3ba and see the things I saw during that week.
My opinion isn't at all changed.

Yes, I have a good friend who is a gay Christian. We're all sinners, it's considered a sin but it's on the same level as lying so it's just something you live with. My friend definitely struggled with it, it's not easy to come to terms with when you're religious. But being gay is not a choice, no matter how much some radicals seem to believe otherwise.

I'm seriously wondering what you're trying to say with this post So your friend has accepted it's a "sin" and has now subjected himself to a religion that think the same, even tho it's a small "sin" like lying? i hope I read wrong, but wtf?

What I have witnessed is that from the people below the age of 50 not even 25% believe in a God anymore, at least not in my country

Regarding Christianity I wouldn't suggest it, they won't fully welcome you. You may abide by most of the values and rules of Christianity (which most people don't even know and follow unless you go to mass every sunday), but the community will turn their backs on you when you openly have a partner of the same sex that you wanna go to church with and stuff.

Yes, you really should leave. Nicki Minaj fans never have anything educated to say anyway.

The only religions I know that openly accept homosexuality are Buddhism and Hinduism.

I live in the Middle East, specifically the GCC. ( 8 hours away from KSA (home to Makkah))
Things are different here.

Guys, stop putting words in my mouth
You go to heaven by helping people, praying, being sincere, being grateful for what you have, etc. etc. etc., not because you are gay OR straight. If you're straight, but are a criminal, you're going to be punished just like a gay criminal will.

you don't know if someone is going to hell or not, that is god's decision.
maybe a heterosexual person will go to hell and a homosexual is going to heaven? who really knows.

Do you think that about yourself, being a gay Muslim?
Kind of sad.

There is no "small" sin. Lying is a sin, murder is a sin. God doesn't have levels of sins that he weighs when deciding whether you'll go to Heaven. My friend was raised a Christian, he's a strong believer, and at some point in his life, he realized that he was gay. He struggled with it, because unfortunately many are raised with the mindset that you can't be gay and a Christian, but he came to terms with it and is still very religious. I don't know if he believes that homosexuality is a sin or not, but I was saying that God loves all sinners no matter the sin.

Some sins are given more importance than others. For instance, having sex before marriage, murder, stealing etc.

This is the least messy religion thread on ATRL so far. I'm actually surprised it is still open. Usually the mods close them down.

"We also sent Lut : He said to his people : "Do ye commit lewdness such as no people in creation (ever) committed before you? For ye practice your lusts on men in preference to women: ye are indeed a people transgressing beyond bounds." Qur'an 7:80-81
"What! Of all creatures do ye come unto the males, and leave the wives your Lord created for you? Nay, but ye are forward folk." Qur'an 26:165
Islam says no.

Depends on the religion. My husband and I got married in a Lutheran church. (He grew up Lutheran) I stopped going to church because of this though. I still believe in God and a higher power, but most religions are just interested in control and condemning those they see as "sinners" to make themselves feel better. That's not for me. Not all churches or religions are that way, but there seems to be too much hatred in religion these days, that I just can't bring myself to be religious.
