Humanitarian Chanteuse Beyoncé Co-Hosts Food Drive In H-Town
Beyoncé's train of good continues to pass through her hometown. The singer is partnering up with The Bread of Life, Miss-A-Meal, the Houston Food Bank and The Box and Majic 102.1 to co-host a food drive in Houston. The project's mission is to help ease the pain of hunger for more than 870,000 families.
This comes a week after a pastor revealed that Beyoncé had donated $7 million to help build a housing complex in Houston for the homeless. Earlier this year, she also gave $500,000 to Chime for Change, an organization that inspires and shares the powerful stories of young women around the world.
To take part in the Houston food drive, the public can make donations at the St. John's parking lot at 1703 Gray Street. If you donate at least five non-perishable items, you'll be in the drawing for tickets to Bey and Jay Z's On the Run Tour to take place at Minute Maid Park Friday, July 18. Winners will be announced at 2 p.m. each day.
It's wonderful that she's doing so much for the good of others. She doesn't have to donate a dime (though I sure this is helping her reduce her taxes for this year).
