Oklahoma's Gay Marriage Ban Reaffirmed As Unconstitutional
10th Circuit Court Of Appeals has ruled that Oklahoma's ban has got to go. The decision is stayed pending an appeal and this means like Utah, who is part of the same circuit, the state's only route could be the Supreme Court.
Why leave the greatest part of the country though.
I hate it here. I live in Nashville and have visited pretty much every major city in the south and it's just a cesspool of ignorance.
I'd like to live in a state we it's ok to be gay. In my state you can commit a hate crime against a gay person without reprimand (as long as you don't damage anything or hurt anyone). Can't get married. Can't even get caught with a tiny amount of weed or any paraphernalia without getting arrested and going to jail for 45 min while they update your records. I would never be able to adopt a child unless I was single, which is really difficult for a man here. Tennessee law does not punish discrimination based on gender identity or sexual orientation, so my boss could legally harass me at work because I'm gay and I wouldn't be able to do anything buy quit. I could also be fired for being gay because TN is an at-will state.
Gold = overturned ban, but stayed pending an appeal
Red = constitutional bans in place
Yellow = statutory ban, not as strict as red
Blue stripes = constitutional ban in place, but an alternative form of partnership is available
Ohio has stripes because only recognition of outside marriages was contested, another lawsuit allowing for couples to marry inside the state is pending
many speculate it will be 2-1 in favor of gays like this case
