I think you made a bunch of valid points in the OP and I definitely agree with you, but I just like to stay away from generalizations because at the end of the day, everyone is different. Maybe a straight guy stans for a pop girl because he finds her sexy and really likes her music and wants to support her career. It all depends on the individual!

I know straight guys who love pop girls and buy their albums and support their music. They don't keep up with their personal lives or whatever, but just love the music. They even go to the tours, and I can tell you they're fully straight. Everybody just likes different things; doesn't make them automatically gay.

However, if you're referring to the concept of "stanning", then that shouldn't be limited to just gay men, cause trust me, you'd be surprised. Personally, I find the concept of "stanning" unhealthy, but that's just my opinion.

but, i mostly agree. there's a difference between fan and stan. the online stan community is 99.9% gay, let's just be real.

As humans we have a difference in "who we want to be" and "who we are". We tend to become fans of those individuals who are similar to the person "we want to be". That's why most people become fans of people involved in sports, politics, music, film, etc.

Despite the fact that we can become a fan of a persones of the opposite gender because of what they stand for and represent, is very unlikely that a guy can stan (in the sense that we all know) for a woman without this highly speaking about his sexuality because that means he identifies with females more than males, and he "wants to be" like that woman.

Of course when I talk about this, I'm not talking about someone who has just a few songs of, let's say, Rihanna or Lady Gaga, because they are hits. I'm talking about someone who has all of their albums and has them in their signature and stuff.

Of course I don't have anything against male stans (since I'm one of them, and I can testify all I'm saying based on pure observations of society), all I'm saying is that we shouldn't be offended when someone says that males who stan for pop girls are gay because that's most likely true. We are quick to be offended because we think it's a stereotype and people shouldn't be discriminatory but we should learn to deal with this, since it's not that far from reality.

I hope I expressed my point properly and I don't want anyone to be offended.
