More specifically, gay men. I'm addressing this question to gay men but anyone can answer. On average, do you find gay men to be kind and inviting? Thoughtful and empathetic? Callous and judgmental? Shallow and fickle? What has your experience been?

Also, are gay people really any worse or better than straight people? If so, how does their sexuality influence this?

I don't generalize ever, but it's been a bit hard from my experience getting along with gay people because a lot of the gay people I've met have had a better-than-you attitude with me. The shallow ones are those who are just interested in sex, which I'm not interested in, so I don't mind. It's their choice to live such a sex based life. I'm extremely easy going and it kinda kills my vibe when gay people just look to start drama or act better than me. But again, I don't generalize and not all gay people are this way.

kind of this, some are very nice warm and inviting - but then some are very bitchy mean and just not the type of people youd want as friends ( i unfortunately met so far in my life of the latter)
