Saw "Charlamagne blasts Beyonce..." and rushed in here to call him a serial-misogynist I'm pleasently surprised he had something nice to say about a female.

If what you say is true then this entire era for her has been nothing but one big hypocritical statement. The message sent forth surely doesn't resonate with the image she perpetuates. If Beyonce indeed relished her imperfections, wouldn't she in turn embrace the idea of letting loose and taking off the mask? Look at her BEHIND THE SCENES and otherwise PRIVATE elevator footage. What you see in Bey is a woman seemingly disconnected from her surroundings. I fear she's grown so consumed with the idea of a 'Perfect Self' that she's lost sight of who she actually is.
Speculation, of course, but clearly more than one person is also weary of her whole Stepford identity.

VERY well put.
Anyone critiquing Beyonce for being too perfect obviously has a problem in their taste level. Why would we ever expect a popstar making MILLIONS of dollars a year to be anything less than prefect?

It's one thing to accept your imperfections and move on (focusing on the things you're good at and that make you happy) and another thing to point out the imperfections on a world platform.

Consequently, for someone aware of this character flaw, I'd imagine it wouldn't be all that hard to start deconstructing the tour piece by piece.

Who really cares about authenticity? You're there to be entertained. It's not a 20/20 episode.

These people seemingly live for a camera and refuse to break face so as to perpetuate a certain image. They don't live in 'our' world, so to speak, but rather they live in a world of self entitlement and grandiose delusion.
That, to me, merits objective criticism. It's not that mediocrity should be sensationalized, but rather that outright narcissistic tendencies ought to be rebuked.

But even the mediocre are narcissistic.

I don't get how "authenticity" is being used as an argument. How is being a top-notch performer not being authentic? We're not talking about songwriting or image, we're talking about performance. Bey's performance skills as a vocalist and dancer are 100% authentic. She's not using a damn stunt double or anything.

Saying that Beyoncé has lost sight of you she truly is would require that you know her off-stage and off-camera (which I'm going to assume that you don't).
It's so easy to sit behind a computer and mobile device and say what you would or would not do if you were any a celebrity's position, but if you believe that authenticity = reliability, then you are going to be disappointed. Most of us are not moguls, we are not worth half a billion dollars, we don't have multi-million dollar companies to sustain and corporate sponsorships and public images to protect so there's already a disconnect. But we've all been in love, heartbroken, embarrassed, we've had aspirations and failures; and these are all themes that Beyoncé and Jay-Z have expressed in their music and if we start dealing with the art and work that celebrities choose to share with us, rather than reading between the lines and trying to connect dots that have nothing to do with us, I think we would all be better off as music fans .

!!!!!!!!!!! Perfect post.
Somehow people decided that they would judge musicians not on their work but on what they represent and that's just silly. I've never heard a fellow Hive say that they like Beyonce because she's "relatable" or "real" or whatever. Not because she isn't, but because we don't care about that. If they do list that as a reason, it's not likely to be at the top of the list.

I think you've lost sight of your place in all this. You're the spectator and consumer, nothing more. Don't like her album or tour, don't buy it. You're not her friend, you're not her psychologist. You don't know this woman and she doesn't owe you anything.

10. The Grand Finale
Closing out with a medley of "Young Forever" and "Halo," the large video screen ceased showing the violent short films and instead devoted the screen time to personal home movies of the Carters with their daughter, Blue Ivy. Jay and Bey had their eyes glued on the screen throughout, watching their family life and soaking up every moment.
In a post-elevator world, it's refreshing to see these two genuinely enjoying their time together on stage. When the Blue Ivy video concluded, the audience was greeted with the message "This Is Real Life," a moving juxtaposition to the gangster fantasies of the past 150 minutes.

So true
It's sad that many are satisfied with mediocrity and when they see greatness, they hate on it instead of being inspired by it. Very sad.

Couldnt have said it better. The advent of social media has given these folks right of passage to over-analyse every aspect of a celebrity's life. I've read that Beyonce doest care about her fans cus she doesnt tweet. Its almost like a pre-requisite now. Frankly i find it unhealthy to be that engrossed in any celebrity's life. These people are not our frat bros & sorority sisters. They are entertainers!! Those that indulge obsessive fan behaviour pay for it dearly; see Gaga's latest era (this is no shade btw, i like Gaga n certainly not to do with commercial performance)
