0 impact? Really? This a MUSIC VIDEO awards ceremony, and Beyoncé shocked the world by dropping an entire visual album (17 amazing MUSIC VIDEOS). As far as music videos go this year, it's all about Beyoncé.
It's cute that these types of threads only pop up when Beyoncé leads the nominations or wins at an award show. She released a visual album with 17 music videos, and this is an award show for music videos, of course she'll receive a lot of nominations.
DiL, Problem, Partition, etc. don't deserve their noms (nor do a lot of these terrible music videos, tbh) but they're hits and they're trying to get fanbases to watch and artists to attend. There's no use in nominating an artist like Britney Spears because she won't attend for ****. Meanwhile, Rihanna, Katy Perry, Beyonce, Ariana Grande, Iggy Azalea, etc. will attend just about any award show for the chance to win.
It makes sense that they are. I mean, why else would they put up nominations for categories that aren't voted for by viewers instead of just announcing winners?
