Yes, I get what you mean. Convincing a listener they've heard something before (The chorus lyrics) when they really haven't (because it's now arranged in a different melodic line.) makes for a good hook and is clever writing.

It's just the OP attributing a much larger significance than necessary to a common occurrence within the innner workings of a common popstar. There's nothing beyond the surface here. As a Rihanna fan, you've definitely encountered this before. Nothing new to see.

I know exactly what you're talking about, OP. And yes, I also love it when it happens in Britney's songs! I've always thought of it as being incredibly clever and interesting and adds a special flavor to the song. However, I've always wondered something, is there a special term/name for this...thing? I want to look it up on Google, but I always have trouble finding the words to describe what I mean.
