I hope it's not AP! I'm so happy about this. I'm half croatian myself and my family isn't very supportive towards gays. Earlier this year, croatia had banned same sex marriage after the Croatian voters (62%) approved the bill.

Oh yes, very much. Croatians are a bigoted bunch full of hatred. There was a (now useless) referendum last year to define a marriage as between man and woman only and it passed. This is a big step forward.

Yay! The government said it might add adoption later on, but it's a very "complicated subject".

As for marriage, now the government needs to keep educating the people and hopefully in time they'll vote yes and overturn that constitutional ban.

It could go piece by piece or have to wait until marriage is passed. I hope they go piece by piece then reach 100% equality with a positive referendum vote on marriages. Italy wants to do it this way (but through the legislature), get ready for a showdown with the Vatican in September

It's really cool to see such forward thinking in Croatia We have "lifetime partnership" in Czech Republic for a while now (with adoption), it's great to see other countries joining the club
