Jealous is certainly not the catchiest song on Beyoncé's self-titled album. It's accompanying music video, while gorgeous, is most probably as one of the least interesting of the record.
But do you all agree that Jealous might be the song where Beyoncé sends the most interesting message of any song on the album?
The bridge has the lyrics:
Quote:
And I hate you for your lies and your covers
And I hate us for making good love to each other
And I love making you jealous but don’t judge me
And I know that I’m being hateful but that ain’t nothing
That ain’t nothing
I’m just jealous
I’m just human
Don’t judge me
Sometimes I wanna walk in your shoes,
Do that type of thing that I'd never ever do
I take one look in the mirror and I say to myself
Baby girl, you can't survive like this
Not you having an appreciation thread for it but subtly dragging it ..
Anyway Jealous is my favorite from the album easily one if her best .it ha simple but complex at the same time and the smooth beat . Ughh love this song . Lemme go listen now
Beyoncé looks gorgeous in the video. Apparently, she’s making a meal naked in her penthouse according to the lyrics. But it's far from being a sexy song.
Take it one step further
Freakum dress out my closet
Yoncé fillin' out this skirt
I look damn good, I ain't lost it
And I ain't missed a beat
Boy you been hanging out at night
Tonight I'm staying out 'til tomorrow
Dancing on them tables ain't got no cares, no sorrow I ran into my ex
Said what up to his besties
Now we reminiscing how we used to flex in Texas don't be jealous
Not you having an appreciation thread for it but subtly dragging it ..
Anyway Jealous is my favorite from the album easily one if her best .it ha simple but complex at the same time and the smooth beat . Ughh love this song . Lemme go listen now
That's constructive criticism and what matters is that my real intention was showing that though a simple song, Jealous is perhaps one of the most important songs on the record.
Jealous is not the catchiest song on the record, nor is it an obvious pick for a radio single or to be performed at an award show but it remains a flawless song to which many of us can relate.
Still don't make it single material, though. Doesn't mean it's a bad song....radio just wouldn't like it.
Who thought radio would like Irreplaceable back in 2006? We just never know. Beyoncé's hit singles are always her less obvious ones minus Crazy in Love.
We never know with Jealous as well. I get the Irreplaceable vibe from it though it's less playful.
