Did Katy's team miss out on an opportunity to save Birthday?
Now I am NOT saying Birthday is a flop by any means, it was a moderate hit, but do you all think Katy's team missed out on a chance to push it a little further?
Release a radio edit of this remix:
Film another video to go along with the remix radio edit, that's sexier and light-hearted and more in the tone of the lyric video and forget that the Birthday party video ever happened. The GP was already aware of Birthday's existence so promo wasn't needed.
Could this have pulled a Summertime Sadness (Remix)?
Substituting the original song for the remix MIGHT have worked, but I doubt it. The taste of radio is moving to a more organic and minimalist approach to music, so swapping the original that was relatively organic (Well, as organic as a Dr Luke production can be.) for a song that's more electronic-based and more produced might have made Birthday a dud on radio.
OT but still sorta relevant: I liked Birthday as it was, either way, no matter where it peaked. People I know who never liked KP liked this song. It was a good choice.
some songs just aren't meant to be hits. if a song has is from a major artist and gets a decent amount of radio play and still doesn't do well then it probably won't do well no matter what you do.

Then that must mean that Marry The Night is moderate hit and Judas is a hit
