So, like, remember when the album track list finally leaked everyone was dragging Gaga for only getting a washed up R&B act from last decade? And then that Beats as random dropped and everyone stopped and listened to the greatest prechorus of her career:
So do what you want, what you want with my body
Do what you want, don't stop, let's party
And it suddenly became the best and most unified moment of the Artpop era? Cause I do. Genius and they showcased the best part of the song too!

This still confuses me. Exactly what was supposed to happen? I can't understand all this "Gaga in Red Dress C is suspended into torture machine 3 while Robert Wilson torture act performs" stuff.

This concept sounded amazing, theatrical and artistic, everything her VMA performance last year should have been. I'm upset.
I don't know where but I remember reading she wanted lookalikes to walk the VMA red carpet wearing iconic looks from her eras? I guess her red carpet idea then turned into a quick messy back-up performance going through her eras looks after her original concept was shut down.
I still liked her VMA Applause performances, but I mean it could have and was intended to be so much better.

I never liked him, but his talent is undeniable. The meltdowns over her collabing with R. Kelly were hilarious considering he's one of the most talented R&B artists we've seen. And you know what, they ****ing delivered.

That's exactly what happened.
I don't get why MTV would get Gaga to open their show and then be like, "no, you can't do that for whatever reason". It's LADY GAGA, you hire her for something crazy and amazing. Her backup performance was amazing, though.

Reading the original VMA performance concept makes me upset. A moment of silence for what could have been

But let's not act like you all wouldn't have dragged her for a performance that included simulated torture.
"She's turning off the GP."
"It was too much."
"People want her to be pretty, not torture herself."
The meltdowns would've been huge.

Maybe because of Miley's MTV documentary The Movement? MTV knew / were hyping her to steal the night then follow her controversy and "movement", whatever that was, after her VMA appearance. Similar to Britney's team filming For The Record with MTV starting the morning of the VMAs 2008 to fuel her comeback by looking amazing, opening the show and sweeping up awards. They both had documentaries by MTV surrounding their future VMA attention, so they didn't want anyone else to try and steal that spotlight I assume. I could be reaching, but yeah.

Without a doubt. Viacom see more money in building new stars up like that to capitalize on ratings to come. Gaga's red carpet concept would have slayed too.

It's true, a lot of people probably would have had a meltdown if she did the original performance concept, but I would have personally loved it. The fact that she was gonna do all that on live TV... She has some ****ing balls lbr. The controversy would have been huge. She could have been more talked about than Miley. Also, it would have just been amazing to look at. It would have made a way better performance than the one we got (even though the one we got was still pretty good)

I would have loved it, too. Ron Athey, though, is a performance artist who literally tortures himself as his performance. People would have been so angry.

Makes sense. Could be why 2010 was Gaga's year as well.
But that's kind of hilarious. Gaga's concept was seen as a threat so they shut her down because they knew no one can compete with her when it comes to getting attention.
But omg, I'm sitting here thinking about how amazing it would have been had she had several look alikes. Like, one would enter and we'd all be like, "who is that, omg" and then another would enter and then another. We would have been so confused.

I'm ready for Livenation and their management team. She's brought them millions so her budget must be big.
The true comeback is coming right after the prelude C2C.

She looked great, but in G.U.Y. she's on another level, tbh.
