Move over Rita Ora – Avril Lavigne wants X Factor fifth judge spot
EXCLUSIVE: Rita Ora has her work cut out if she wants to bag the hotly anticipated fifth judge spot on this year’s X Factor – because Avril Lavigne is hot on her heels.
When Metro.co.uk revealed this year’s X Factor will include a surprise fifth judge in the live shows, Avril’s agents apparently got on the blower to Simon Cowell and co asking she be considered for the spot.
But her identity was all being kept very hush-hush, until now.
‘It was understood an international female singer’s management has contacted the producers asking if they could be considered for the role,’ a show insider told Metro.co.uk.
‘No one knows who it is as since the leak about the fifth judge, everything is very strict. Only a select few people know.
‘But the general feeling behind-the-scenes is that it’s Avril Lavigne.’

While Rita and Avril appear to be leading the race, our insider revealed that both Mary J Blige and Christina Perri have also been mentioned.
The identity of the fifth judge is expected to be revealed in early September, with judges’ homes being filmed slightly later this year.
A spokesman for The X Factor denied Avril’s agents had been in contact. Metro.co.uk is awaiting comment from representatives for Avril Lavigne.
