Why though? Of course artist record tons of songs for an album, but that doesn't mean they all should make it. If only 13-15 lines up with the artists artistic vision, why should they change that? And, plus for the people that are success hungry long albums have to be more expensive so the label can make a profit. Shorter albums will probably sell more because they're cheaper.

Obviously longer albums are more expensive...that's a no brainer. However, that doesn't mean that its more profitable to put out a 12 song album if people don't feel its worth paying for.

It's about marketing...a certain fanbase (like the ones that bought PNP) will buy the album when it first comes out...that first month...from there forward its about getting others to join.
In this situation, she could easily have it sold for regular price during album week then reduce the price during the holidays. From there, people are going to buy it basedon promotion.
People are willing to shell out a few more bucks for deluxe edition. they'd be willing to shell out $9 more dollars for double the amount of songs during a sales week without discounts, too.

The idea is that she's been working on this album and the ideas since 2012...and we get 10 songs that we don't yet know are quality...some don't think PNP is quality.

Her badge about fans being pissed if there were only 13 songs was good confirmation that this won't be a short album. her retweets about having 18-23 song type album was a good confirmation as well but either way I'm sure it will be quality...
so...why not have the quality married with quantity.

True...obviously I don't expect any Nicki album to sell that.
the idea was that in those eras people were regularly putting out 10 songs or 12 songs but certain artist that proven to produce quality albums were able to do double albums (Oh i forgot to include Jayz blueprint 2) and people supported it because the artist had already proven to be worth it.
I mean PFRR length wise would have made sense but we all know the album was unfocused.

For her vision and all the different areas she wants to address and use as an album female rappers will reference in the future...uh, I'm sure she can put out a double album or at least a 16 track album (including PNP)...I mean, it seems like people really expect her to give us filler and not produce a quality album sotheyare scared and want it shorter.

Now PNP should be either track 1, 2 or 3. It shouldn't end the album but we most likely have heard 3 songs already (PNP, chi raq, LAN) and a 2nd single before the album drops

Id be happy with a Nicki album with 15 songs with 3 bonus to make 18 total tracks
