Blake sets the tone for the self-titled album with the self-titled track "Overgrown". It's warm, woozy, full of soulful textures, overlapings and vocal repetitions. Definetly new wave and progressive to r&b music.

James Blake is the perfect example of mediocre R&B.
Great voice, good production, decent lyrics but awful/bland/boring melodies.

James Blake is the perfect example of forward thinking, innovative, trend setting, futuristic, experimental R & B
Not all music is about melodies. His music is monotonous on purpose. His whole album is like that

Phew. "Overgrown" was pretty nice, but I agree with its placement.

"Buster Keaton" is the second single off of the Denmark duo self titled release. A lot of Quadron's music is compared to early 60s R&B but this one here is a little more 80s and doesn't the sultry voice from Coco just relax you? "Buster" is a woman empowerment song about the struggles woman face.

Girl, you acting like you still have your corporate virginity
But there is always a cross for you to bear
Politically correct about everything besides yourself
If you could buy a perfume of it you would
Preach Coco!

But it sucks
Melody and production are the two most important parts of a song for me.
A magnificent production with an undeniable melody will give someone with a decent/average voice an absolute hit... while a magnificent voice with a boring song will go absolutely nowhere.
And it's not like James Blake songs don't have a melody at all... they're just boring and average. It might be different if it was production driven but I don't think it is.

The funktified collaboration from producer Bok Bok and R&B songstress Kelela sadly (or finally) gets the boot. It's actually the only single included where the artist in the rate is used as a guest vocalist but really it's all about Kelela and how she works this disjointed electro-funk production.
