Tech: Amazon to rival iPhone with new Kindle Phone.

Probably the Kindle Phone. Maybe a Kindle Fire Phone. After the barrage of Kindle-branded hardware across categories, does Amazon have another option?

The phone's billboard feature is the much rumored 3D display. It's not clear that Amazon plans to characterize it as 3D, but from from the video Amazon posted teasing the device, it seems the UI is very responsive to your movements to that effect. According to BGR's reports, the UI seems like a much more sophisticated version of Apple's parallax effect. In addition to shifting the wallpaper you're looking at, Amazon's phone will also shift the perspective on icons, as well as throughout Amazon's various stores.

In addition to responding to your hand movements, the phone reportedly uses multiple cameras to track your face so that it can adjust the display as you're glancing around the screen. The movements of the actors in Amazon's teaser appear to confirm this.

Beyond the 3D effect, BGR reports that the phone's software will respond to an innovative gesture control that will allow you to tilt the phone in various directions—to the point that BGR's sources suggest you don't need to touch the phone at all to accomplish certain tasks.

At this point who knows where the Smartphone industry is heading nowadays.

Soon our phones will be able to predict the future and send us a notification if we're about to be hit by a bus.

It will be like the Kindle Fire tablet and Fire TV. It's not an eReader, no.

No more restrictive than iOS or WP.

And the Kindle uses Android to build it's own OS, not Android with a fancy skin (the only one that does is the original)

Nothing Amazon does ever 'bombs' due to the strong customers of Amazon. The Fire TV went on sale the day after it's announcement and even took Amazon by surprise. It sold out.

This thing you'll have to remember is Amazon will offer the same tech for like, half the price.
That's how they sell things. Except now the Kindle Fire HDX is too powerful to be a budget tablet, so it's now middle range. You can still grab a Kindle Fire HD for cheap though.

The camera is really good on it.

It will be interesting how much the camera is updated next gen on iPhone and the S6.
