Oh lawd last season of Oz and this is getting to be a bit too much

I need to vent.

Things are going so great with my boyfriend. Great isn't even the word. Today, we went to the park and talked for hours under a tree. It was so nice. I told him some of my deepest darkest secrets, and he was understanding and appreciative. But before this, he dropped a bomb on me. He asked me how I'd feel about him going to work at his old **** buddy's grand opening of his store for a few hours. I've always known about him, and have always harbored some jealous feelings. I shouldn't feel that way since he's much older than me and my boyfriend has always told me he was never interested in him romantically. I've never met the guy and can't judge him, but everytime I think of him, I feel a little angry and sad.

Anyway, I didn't have time to react, so I just whispered, "That's fine..." I immediately regretted it, and felt this knot in my stomach. I trust my boyfriend with all of my heart. He's an extremely honest person, about everything. I know he wouldn't cheat on me. But just the idea of him being around that guy bothers me so much. I feel sick just typing this. I don't know how or if I should tell my boyfriend. I stressed over it all day at work, and when we talked afterward, it was briefly mentioned and I said, "Hopefully he's cool and respectful..."

I don't want to tell him not to go, but I don't want him to. I feel like I'm lying to him by pretending to be okay with it. He's only doing it to make some extra money, but I'm just so worried. This sucks.

I think you should tell him a bit how you feel but without sounding too paranoid. Whether it's to support his friend or make money, knowing that there isn't romantic history between them (that you've known of) should ease a bit of your worries

Yeah, I agree. I think I'll talk to him in the morning. I'll just tell him that I worry the guy won't respect our relationship. The fact that they have sexual history still irks me. I shouldn't be acting like this, but this is the first time they've seen each other since before we met and I worry that the guy thinks he still has a chance or something.
