You're literally an idiot if you choose to miss out on Wii U or Vita. Both have such special games that everyone should honestly experience. If you're a real gamer, the platform wouldn't matter as much as the game itself. Some of you are letting stanning (for games?) ruin actually enjoying the art that is gaming and it's sad.

Sony should just discount Vita or rebrand it altogether. Some aggressive promo and a few spin offs from major franchises or even dual releases with PS3 or PS4 versions of exclusives could work. Plus more advertising the fact you can get the full PSN experience on the go wouldn't hurt. The catalogue is great.

Well the 3DS has only sold half of the PSP sales as well.
The DS was massive, but the 3DS had every chance to be just as big as well.
It had the Pokemon games in 3D, full scale Mario Kart and Super Smash etc. but it's struggling also.

My store is selling the 3DSXL for just $99. Less than half it's retail, and we don't even stick the Vita.
People are getting their kids iPads and Tablets rather than handheld gaming consoles.

And the gaming market is now suffering from it.

Yet 3DS was still the best selling gaming platform of 2013. What does that honestly say about gaming as a whole industry? Sorry but what you're implying (about 3ds and handheld gaming) is flatout stupid.

Anyone even using Wii and DS stats is full of it because that was a flash in the pan. No other company is doing what Nintendo did with Wii and DS at the same time. So, the comparison is dumb. 3DS is doing fine considering
A) Super slow start & B) Only one real and full year of games and proper promotion (that year being 2013).

DS had consistent titles through its WHOLE lifespan. Even PSP had more consistent titles majority of its lifespan. How can you compare? Should we compare Neo Geo to Gameboy Color next?

PSP is the best handheld ever made
With Custom Firmware, you can run anything, any piece of code
Ive played GBA, GB, Sega gamegear, Sega genesis, atari emulators...
There was even a NDS emulator for PSP where you played with the screen upside
PS1 games too
Also homebrew games, there were a lot of cool home developed games on the web for PSP, coded in Lua or C

You can even run Linux or Unix on it

Vita games dont have the same hype, and I hate the vita (square, cross,...) tiny buttons, it doesnt have deepness like all other sony controllers, its just a "click"
Somebody needs to unlock Vita to boost sales

The PSP sold 80 million. Even if you compare the 3DS to the PSP which wasn't a "flash in the pan", the 3DS has still sold 50% less.

The Gameboy + Gameboy Colour sold 118 million WW.
The Gameboy Advance sold 80 million and the Gameboy Advance SP sold 43 million which is 123 million WW.
The DS, DS XL, DS Lite and DSi sold 159 million WW.

The 3DS, 3DS XL etc. is stalling at 40 million.

In general the handheld market is dying due to tablets. This really isn't a stupid statement.

He implied that handheld gaming is hanging by a thread and that was 100% correct. Why buy a $200 handheld that has $40 games when you can buy a $300 iPod that has free games and can do much more than what a 3DS can. Handheld consoles won't last much longer. Sony is surely done with them after the vita, and it's only a matter of time before Nintendo calls it quits as well.
