Teen changes her name to CutoutDissection.com

A 19-year-old Asheville teenager claims she has legally changed her name to CutoutDissection.com to protest animal dissections in schools.

The Asheville Citizen-Times reported Asheville High School graduate Jennifer Thornburg now wants to be called Cutout.

The teenager’s new legal name is the URL for an anti-dissection website created by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.

The teen formerly known as Thornburg said she began opposing dissections in middle school, when the she became uncomfortable dissecting a chicken wing. While at Asheville High, she helped create a policy that allows students who object to dissections to complete an alternative assignment.

She is now an intern for PETA and said most of her family members still call her Jennifer.

I'm all for PETA and animal rights, but I don't see the problem with dissection as long as the animal wasn't killed for that reason.

Anyway, this girl is nuts.

Dissection is actually a very useful learning tool I've found. I really dreaded the rat dissection that I had to do this semester but I feel like it's helped me get a better understanding of anatomy.

I'm pretty sure all of the animals used for dissections were killed for it. I would never do that, that's why I don't take anatomy. lol.

I hate animal rights activist they take thing to far. I've dissected a frog and a rat I was scared shitless but it helps you learn after you get finish throwing up.

I have no problem with what she is doing, but that has to be the DUMBEST name change I have seen in a long time...seriously, it is just too weird if someone asks 'Hi Cutout, what's up?'

Although she's gonna be teased a lot for this, it's like I said just now.

I'm taking Anatomy next sem and we have to dissect a cat & chicken. :-/

^Even in High School? I remember myself dissecting a frog during my high school days. It was so gross!

But we don't kill humans just in order to dissect them .
I think it's stupid but she did it to protest about something right! I don't have a problem with dissecting animals as long as they weren't killed for it, just like eli said.

I'm happy we don't really do dissecting around here.
