If ARTPOP was perfect, no drunk vocals, no ruined songs, I Wanna Be With You(>>>>>>>>..>Dope) was still there, Gypsy was not produced by a 18 years old kid, not changes on Manicure, then properly held, the era would have been a success.
I think you're pretty confused.
ARTPOP is like her every other album. It has great songs and bad songs. It's not that awful.
MANiCURE is awesome, Dope is better than the other silly version, ARTPOP is really just fine. There's no perfect album.
I will not have I Wanna Be With You shade in here. I love Dope and I Wanna Be With You equally, because even though they are obviously different, they're both some of the best emotional lyrics and vocals Gaga has put on a song, and I want the studio version of IWBWY because I hate having to listen to the London fans screaming everytime I listen.
In reality: Aura (buzz single) > Applause > (immediate album release before she can open her mouth in interviews spewing all this artsy fartsy preachy stuff and repelling people again) > DWUW > Gypsy (Grammy performance) > Sexxx Change (remix it to get a relevant artist on there)
But sis Gypsy screams Disney Princess Fairytale of Love and Worldwide ART and POP
Well, yeah, the video could've fit that concept. . But imo it's too musically reminiscent of Born This Way. If Gaga had preached for 2 years about how ARTPOP was gonna be a huge EDM rave experience and then returned with "Gypsy"...

Anyway, why do you think otherwise? It'd be so boring if Gaga just released "Do What U Want", "Gypsy", "Sexxx Dreams", and then ended the era not even a year after it began. I'd rather have "Applause" be a good hit for her, have "Venus" be either a hit or flop (which wouldn't matter bc they wouldn't end the era so early), and then have "Do What U Want"/"Gypsy"/"Sexxx Dreams" be smashes for her. More videos, a longer era, more success, what's to hate about it.
Like, I can't understand what's bad about an artists career going "hit - underperformance - smash - smash - hit". It's delusional and stupid as fuck to make her keep her eras short just so she could keep a chart streak.
And I won't be right without you,
And I might break without you.
I'd rather be poor and happy than rich and alone.
I'll write hit songs about you,
No matter how, we'll get through.
The drags we would have endured
'I'll write hit songs about you' would become the new 'no online negativity on this site thank u'/'would you critic an english paper?' Terrible sing. Dope is second to Aura being the most god damn art pop song on ARTPOP
Aura, with a retuned opening and the combined quality of verses from Burqa and riding off smash success from BTW, could have been a great single. It's experimental, has interesting lyrics, and had one of her best choruses ever. As it is now? A great album track for us to enjoy.
1 - The album should have only 14 tracks. No Jewels N' Drugs. I'm sure its Metacritic score would be higher than 61.
2 - She should have done promo in France, Germany and Australia around the album release, performing preferably Do What U Want on TV.
3 - The Do What U Want video should have been released. You're Lady ****ing Gaga, if you didn't like the result of the original video, just film another and release it.
4 - Gypsy should have been the 3rd single instead of G.U.Y.
My only complaints regarding the whole ARTPOP era.

Ugh, no matter how accustomed I become to her waking-up-from-chloroform vocals in the album version, I can go back to the demo ONCE and I'll be slayed too much all over again
And as I've said this era had a 99% chance of doing badly anyway so it would have been fun to have seen something as experimental as Aura released as a single, especially if it were named Burqa for added controversy.
Fellow little miscroscope use encouragers, are the London dates really sold out? Everyone tells me so but when I try to buy tickets they're available in multiple sites
