Typically when someone gets new piercings they have to leave the ring in for a certain amount of time before changing it so that the hole doesn't close up. She would've been spotted with the septum earlier that day or days ago if that were the case.
Sure she could've called her tattoo artist and got it done during her photoshoot, but it seems like it was just a fashion accessory being used for the shoot.
