Most active members have their own thread and they on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis make updates of their favorite songs of the week in a top 10/20/40 fashion.

That's pretty much the key to running your own thread. Usually most of us check out each other's threads and just comment on the chart update the user made. That's it really. You control your countdown pretty much (for your personal chart anyway)
