Unless my favorites are releasing music, there's a chance I'll be bored with the scene. But the saddest part is half my favorites did release and I am still bored.
I can venture into non mainstream acts, but even those have been boring me. I need a total resurgence.
Let's be honest... Things have been boring since mid-2012 when We Are Young started slaying. There was a brief surge in late 2013 but it's been pretty bleak since then.
Of course I'm only referring to mainstream pop music. If you look elsewhere there is a ton of amazing music being released.
Yes. Ever since streaming was added to balance out the chart positions, songs have stalled on top of the charts making for deadly boring movements. It's kind of sad how by this point in the year, you know that there might be 5 or 6 more new top 10 entries with 3 or 4 more number ones MAXIMIUM
Thankfully I listen to music outside of top 40/mainstream as well
Kinda. There's still some great music out there but I'm starting to lose interest in the charts a little bit because there's a lot of mediocrity in the top 20 right now that didn't deserve to get that high. Streaming really is killing the industry.
The music in general is never boring, but mainstream music at the very moment kinda is. You just have to check the United World Chart for singles. The whole Top 10 is just there, halfway into the summer and no song is owning the game
I don't know if I am bored, I just don't like the current states of things.
I don't like the "quick little single" mentality that is out there, most pop acts focus so much on creating the perfect single colection to sell as much singles as possible that the actual "album" as a whole gets lost. People are also so used to it, that they don't listen ot buy to whole albums anymore.
Also this whole hype culture needs to die, we go from one trend to an other and everybody just follows the example. I don't get how 50 Pharrell produced songs are not tiring to people. I love Pharrell and his productions, but not if he has to produce various songs at the same time that turn out in the same kind of stuff.
There needs to be more daring and radio should be more open to let people get used to different kinds of stuff. I bet the GP is actually open for more diversity, but they just get spoon fed so much by radio and other media outlets that we end up in a sheep culture that looks like it will not have an end anytime soon.
It all works together, because the current landscape in the music scene has been pretty boring and samey with a few little examples.
