The same way we get our life from stanning for our faves, observing their position on the charts, and watch their performances/tours. It's just something that they're interested in

Well, I actually disagree. Pop music or my idols do complete me and they express me something: ideas, ways of being, songs, lyrics, an entire world of things. It's exciting because there's always something to look up and to be inspired by. I can't find that in football

As far as players go, it's accessible for pretty much every country, hot or cold, rich or poor (doesn't require expensive equipment and courts like tennis). Additionally, it's accessible from a fan's perspective as well; much easier to understand than (US) football, tennis, baseball or even basketball. Lastly, being a team sport, you don't have to know ANYTHING about the players to know who to root for and have emotional investment (your home country), unlike individual sports.

This is an American forum. Football means something else in America. Writing football would cause confusion, the OP saying soccer makes it clear. We all know what soccer is. Stop being annoying and pretentious.
