Bugs Bunny, Mickey Mouse, The Simpsons, Donald Duck, Snow White, Cinderella, Ariel, all the Disney Princesses, Family Guy, South Park, Rugrats, Timone and Pumbaa, Simba, Arthur, Hey Arnold, Catdog, Doug, Angry Beavers, Sailor Moon, Pokemon, Dragon Ball Z, Buzz and Woody, the list goes on and on and on. Most successful cartoon franchises are considered to be iconic, particularly by the children who grew up with them. Children who grew up in the 2000s consider Spongebob to be iconic. But literally the ENTIRE world knows about Harry Potter.
People voting for Spongebob most likely haven't read the HP series, but they need to at least recognise that in the early 2000s it became the biggest thing in the world, right after Pokemon. It's not just a kid's show that people reference on the internet from time to time. It was a craze that took over the world. And it will be so long lasting. It encouraged so many children to read too, which is amazing, and inspired so many other Young Adult mega-franchises.
