Crazy mall or crazy food industry?

Well considering these are two of the majority types of jobs available for a teenager/young adult looking for a summer job, I would expect almost everyone has had a job in either retail or fast food. I've worked in both, and fast food is definitely more challenging.

I've worked both. Honestly, retail is far worse.

At least fast food gives you good hours with long shifts . Retail throws you around on the schedule, sometimes you'd be getting three shifts a week, while the next week you will get one 4-5 hour shift a week. And of course when they try to call you in, if you don't accept you will notice a decrease in hours the following week. Retail also gives people very unreasonable sales goals with a lot more hell thrown towards you if you don't make your sales goal. You can't force people to buy your ****** clothes

people are rude to anyone with a job. For some reason they seem to believe the customer is superior to the worker in any situation, like putting on a name tag dehumanizes you.

i worked in a food building at an amusement park for 3 summers, same food and style as a fast food place.

i now work in retail but not a clothing store. i like it better simply because its a small family owned business and they are very nice, the customers are also nicer. the amusement park i worked at had horrible management and horrible ghetto customers

I work in retail right now and it's not that bad, but it's challenging and frustrating at times but I generally like it. I would never work in the fast food/restaurant field.

I work retail and I hate it because customers are ****. but I believe fast food would be even worse.
