Don't get me wrong, I love both girls, they're arguably the most successful pop girls along with Madonna, Britney, and Rihanna. But after looking at their respective receipts threads, it seems like Gaga has surpassed Beyoncé almost everywhere but in the USA. I'm opening this thread because people keep calling Gaga a fad when she's already surpassed other music legends such as Beyoncé in such a short amount of time. I think that's very impressive.
Gaga has definitely the bigger career in Europe, Asia, Oceania, Latin America, and even Canada. Beyoncé still beats her in the USA, no doubt about that. But Gaga is a global force so she doesn't really need the USA anymore. ARTPOP sold like 2 million OUTSIDE the USA which is more than most girls wish wish they could sell globally.
Their album sales are similar but Gaga's are definitely more impressive as debuted when album sales were at their lowest, yet she has sold just as much as Beyoncé even with less albums. Selling 27 million albums from 2008-2013 is far more impressive than selling 30 million albums from 2003-2013. However Beyoncé is still a great seller so I'm not shading her or anything.
Gaga's single sales are also a lot bigger and more global than Beyoncé's. "Just Dance", "Poker Face", "Bad Romance", and "Born This Way" are all bigger sellers than any song Beyoncé has put out. And most recently, "Applause" became a smash hit and did better than any Beyoncé single since the iconic "Single Ladies" back in 2008.
You could also say Gaga has the bigger tours, has made more of an impact, and is overall a lot more famous. I'd like to hear y'all thoughts on this. And again, I stan for both ladies so I'm not being biased or anything. This is a thread to celebrate Gaga's massive success, as well as Beyoncé's.
Beyoncé has had great longevity however and hopefully Gaga will have a career as long as hers. I give credit where it's due.
