When its taken with extremist passion, then it is. But I know many kind modern Christians who are ok with gays. I couldnt be religious myself tho

I find religion to be great in regards to having strong support systems and a sense of purpose. I'm agnostic though. Hatred or ignorance should never be endorsed, and they are not limited to religion.

No. As long as people are respectful of others and are open minded religion is not toxic. When different religions and non-religious people have their minds made up and are not respectful of each other, they polarize and that's when negative consequences follow.

I think there's a really strong hive mind in a majority of cases so that can be harmful by leading into the enforcement of outdated values which creates a resistance to change and progressivism and critical thinking and such. So with that stagnation comes problems and I feel ultimately it's something we should be moving away from in 2014.

At the same time you know how people are + I wonder if a world where there's no guiding set of rules instilling the masses with a 'conscience' or sense of moral direction would really be better off than ours with the problems you listed.
