In my opinion, a lot of online stans (on twitter and pop culture forums) who are ex-Gaga stans have jumped ship and started stanning for Lana Del Rey instead.

Not all of them. She has millions of devoted, loving fans who will be there for her no matter what. She also has fans who stan for both. But I also feel she has some fans who've completely abandoned her (either because they didn't like her new material or because she started underperforming and they jumped ship) and the majority of them seem to stan for Lana now.

I think it's because when Gaga started out, everything about The Fame screamed a 1980s pop star, especially her styling. Lana has the exact same effect but she seems to belong in the 1960s. I think Gaga-to-Lana ship jumpers are the sort of stans who wished they were alive at another time and lived during a different era And Gaga stopped encapsulating a different period of time (the 80s) by changing her looks too frequently, whereas Lana has retained that element of mystery that Gaga used to have

A lot of em jumped shipped for Iggy too though.

I really liked Lana when Video Games came out. I still really like Lana, Gaga disappointed me a lot and I just don't love ha like I used to

She's extravagant (her fashion is very beautiful), mature, mysterious, and dark. Similar to Gaga just in extremely different ways of showing those elements. I am a huge stan of Lana too.

It's not Gaga stans, it's more of the gays in general.

Gaga (TF/TFM days) embodied a lifestyle with glam, wealth and sex. Whenever she moved on to BTW/AP and started showing less of the characteristics from the previous era and more 'weird/ugly,' they couldn't use ha anymore.

Then came Lana, who embodies all the lyrical elements from TF era in her music, but with a darker twist and the gays love that.

A lot of Monsters were already Lana fans. I discovered Lana through Gagadaily actually and she's quite popular over there, even after So Legit I think it's more that Lana just started an era while Gaga's era died a long time ago.
