I used to feel the same way, at least about the monthly rates, until I realized what they're actually about. Instead of thinking about it as picking the "best song" of the month, which clearly no one will ever agree on, it's a lot more interesting if you think about it as picking the most commercially appealing song. The one that wins is the one that the most people like, and the top 3 usually coincides with the songs that are hits in Korea. It's weirdly accurate.
