Still if he really said he wouldn't date Amber because she is black regardless the self hate is REAL and Iman is right. He needs to build a bridge and get over it IMO because not all black people are like that.

I agree. He's been in the house with her for two weeks, right? He should know how genuine and kind she is to others, and wouldn't say the things that kids said about him as a child.

That kind of treatment really does affect someone's mind, and that's why he doesn't try to date black women. It all stems from his childhood.
Sure it's sad that he doesn't date black woman, but it's very easy to see how it came to that for him. I just feel bad for him. It's a shame, but it's very typical—minorities often hold themselves back, and Devin's treatment growing up is just an example of that.

i would actually understand him if he was young and naive. how old is this dude for him to generalize every black women like that?

He clearly has issues concerning racial identity. I will not have you girls acting like that isn't something serious or real. Not when countless biracial/black people struggle every day with their racial identities because of how society treats them. People like Mariah Carey and Tyra Banks have talked about their own struggles with race. Race is a very real topic. Minorities need to feel like they aren't alone and that they can be with and identify other people who look like them. Society already forces biracial people to group themselves with black people. So for a biracial child to be told that he isn't black enough, to be called "Uncle Tom", and to be bullied is sad. That's the kind of childhood trama that can really damage your outlook on life. If Frankie was talking about how he used to hate himself for being gay, you guys wouldn't be calling it BS, you would be sympathizing.
I don't care if you don't like Devin. Try and have a heart.

From his conversation with Jocasta, it's clear he knows that all black people aren't like that. He's just still struggling with it. Childhood issues like that take a lot of time to resolve.
I hope someday he can completely overcome it.

Aside from Devin, Amber was his first friend in the house. Amber said her first real conversation in the house was hours long with Devin. So let's not act like he hates black people. He isn't generalizing black women, he's saying that he's never dated black women and isn't comfortable around them. Being comfortable around people is a huge part of meeting new potential dates, and for a child that grew up around black women telling him he isn't black enough for their standards, it's sadly understandable that he isn't comfortable around them and thus hasn't dated any.
Mind you, we never HEARD Devin say he doesn't date black girls. We heard Frankie's quick retelling, and we all know the way Frankie talks about people.
And let's not with "he's too old". You're never too old to struggle with racial identity. That kind of trouble doesn't just disappear with age.
Y'all are so ugh.

girl bye. no one got time for your RIHinvention essays. JK sis! but in all seriousness we've all been bullied. i got made fun of for my voice too and ive been bullied by black kids. it didn't stop me from liking black people. im still very attracted to black guys, so im not really sure if Devin has a good excuse. sounds to me like he's just making up excuses for not being attracted to black women.

I kinda assume by default that users on this site are gay white males, and so find it way easier to sympathize and relate to people who likewise check those boxes.
It's like how certain people on this site get super defensive of Iggy and the like, saying that anyone accusing them of in racial reappropriation are being racist against white people, or something along those lines.

Either white or biracial, I don't remember. Devin is definitely biracial though. His sister has blue eyes.

It's sad, but minorities rarely attempt to sympathize for other minorities. Typical.

Why are you comparing your life to his? Are all bullying experiences created equal? Not only does the childhood bullying that people receive vary in intensity from person to person, so does their reactions and the way it affects them. Who are you to judge how much the bulling should affect him? When you see a gay boy who killed himself because of the way he was treated in school, do you say "Oh, well EYE was bullied and didn't wanna kill myself. He shoulda just gotten over it!"
Like come on people.

Doc, we're not going to sit here and feel sorry for him. You're heavily victimizing his insecurity when everyone was just dragging Brittany/Britney for hers.
Black people have made fun of me for TONS or things, the way I speak, walk, talk Ted. I'm 99% sure if he's biracial there was never a debate with wether or not he was "really white", he just wasn't yet he seems to have no problem with them. He seems to be uncomfortable with his own race so instead he looks for the validation of other races. It's typical....
