All aspects of the LGBT community are important. They all need to be treated with the respect, kindness and legitimacy that they deserve. We've made great strides towards equality in the past few years, but we need to remember that all sexualities included under the spectrum of LGBT are fighting for their equal rights as well.

Specifically, I've seen too many instances where someone has stated that people who call themselves bisexual are liars and closet cases. Why are too many people in our society not all inclusive & accepting of the entire LGBT community? Why is bisexuality so frequently discarded and seen as not legitimate?

Because the "LGBT community" is a myth. There can be no community when you're discriminated within it because of your physical appearance, race, and HIV status

The gay community is so judgmental, it's so funny.

I have a best friend who is all about gay rights but we got into an argument when he tried to say that bisexuals weren't real and just a transition for gay guys to make it easier on everyone.

I often think they're 3 separate communities (Lesbian, Gay and Transexual) who only really come together when they need to, or if they're passionate when it comes to fighting for the rights of another letter.

It seems like within the LGBT community, biphobia and internalized homophobia of feminine men has become a big problem.

I don't even think those 3 come together - I know plenty of gay guys who can't handle transexuals.

the issues of the first 3 should be tackled first since they have more in common and are not complex like the last one imo

It's because so many adult gay men identified as bisexual between the ages of like 13-20 (myself included) so it's hard to take guys of that age seriously when they tell people they're bi because we all did it. Literally every single one of my gay friends did, and I used to work at a gym in Sydney's gay district so I know a lot of gay guys. It's really common for teenagers to tell people they're bi. It's almost like a stepping stone to full acceptance for them.

Let's not forget the rampant transphobia.

THE REASON WE CALLED YOU OUT AS GAYS OR CLOSET CASES IS BECAUSE it would make us feel better and fit into one. We are pretty much just joking.

The true group that are really being discriminated AGAINST are gays.

I did this as well in the beginning, and I can still get attractions to females to this day.

But there are genuine bisexuals out there, and to say that all are just a transition would be a really ignorant thing to say.

From personal experience, I've see more transphobia online by ATRL LGBT members themselves than anywhere else.

Transgender and Transsexual acceptance is making huge strides towards acceptance in real life.

When I say those 3 come together, I don't mean every single member of that group. Just the ones who are compassionate and passionate about LGBT activism. Like I fully support transgendered rights, but I'm not an advocate or anything. Not because I disagree, but because I'm lazy. Like even though I'm gay, I don't support gay marriage. And when I say I don't support gay marriage, I mean I don't ACTIVELY support it, and go out and protest for it to be legalised in Australia, because I never, ever want to get married. Therefore, even though I'm gay, gay marriage doesn't affect me. That's why I get confused when straight, Christian, conservatives protest it. Because it doesn't affect them. If it was as easy as switching a light on, then I'd legalise it in a heartbeat. But because I never want to get married, I don't care. And I'm lazy and not really that passionate about activism.

It's the same with transgendered issues. I fully support transgender rights and am completely against transgender discrimination. But I'm too busy doing me and my own life to go out of my way to fight for the rights of others in the street. If I was one of those sorts of people I would probably be studying law.

I'm talking about outside of ATRL too & my entire point for this thread is that we should equally respect and love all 4 aspects, not discriminate against one or the other.
