This is not going to happen, our government is turning more and more into a puppet show by the Communist party everyday, mainland tourists keep increasing and immigration is at an all time high, soon Hong Kong really won't be what we know it as today.

We're a tiny city with barely any industry or natural resources and an economy that would falter without mainland investment, and what foreign country would help us at the risk of angering China?

Why did the UK even give HK back to China

Because the UK(along with other Western powers and Japan) forced China into unequal treaties in the 1800's to lease(a.k.a take control of) certain land areas for trade. This particular lease lasted 99 years and when it was up, China understandably demanded their territory back.

Perhaps Hong Kong should learn from Macau by being a good puppet rather than a bad kid. At least they get fed well. Messing with the Chinese government ain't gon do you any good because those people are bats*** crazy. Let's not act like UK is gonna give a flying s*** when they see China as their sugar daddy. I feel bad for Hong Kong.
