It will be close, i think it will sell around 800k total. Adding streaming it shouldnt be far from platinum.

Last Friday Night's music video is remembered.

Which leads to another point of novelty...sometimes the visual overshadows the actual song which one its own is forgettable in the long haul but when you hear it you remember it was big at the time.

It's a snapshot in time for what was popular at the moment.
Some songs are classics overall
Some songs are novelty and just for the moment
some songs are not classics but are cult classics and known to a specific generation

From this era: roar, dark horse and LL will be remembered signature hits
TIHWD will be her novelty song that only works for this time.
Birthday and Unconditionally will not be remembered outside of the core audience of pop listeners
I think It takes two or double rainbow could end up like roar and LL if done right

california gurls although cheesy is memorable
Teenage dream was novelty (only worked for that moment and not really memorable despite being my favorite single from her ever)
Firework is a classic
ET can fall under novelty or the same category california gurls not so memorable outside of the core audience of pop listeners
LFN the personification of novelty
the one that got away not a classic but a memorable song for katy

I called California Gurls novelty because it was all about fads in the industry and isn't a song meant to be taken seriously or a song anyone usually writes about. While memorable that doesn't make it not a novelty song. Barbie Girl is a novelty song and is still remembered today.
Its the same thing with this song. It has tons of references to fads, isn't supposed to be taken seriously at all, and is almost comical. The song is all based around its super cheesy lyrics that aren't memorable but are definitely not generic either. It just all works for the song.
