Selfies are an interesting thing. On one hand they are incredibly self-centred. On the other they put the power in your own hands to represent yourself in a way you want. In an age where celebrities are seen doing anything, we now have the tools to be able to document our own actions and are given the same platform to share the experience with the world.
Another thing is that generally you are interested in your friends/families, so seeing them in a picture is often more interesting than seeing what they ate or who they went to the beach with or whatnot.
