How is this an obvious way of looking at the situation? People buying could be placed on any number of reasons, it is more likely that it's being bought because she's coming off of a very successful single and has no other new music out and because her fanbase is primarily young people who are very dedicated and less inclined to care about it sounded dated or not.
But to say that because it's being bought means that it does not employ a dated production is faulty. Either way we can't use the GP buying it to prove what people's opinions are about it. Unless we can get reviews from each buyer saying "this isn't dated" or even "this is dated but it's catchy so I like it" then we can't presume to know how they feel about it.
