Why a Nicki/Iggy beef could be good for both rappers.
A beef between Nicki and Iggy—whether real or imagined—was born. But you know what? This could turn out to be a good thing for their careers. Here are 8 reasons why.

Quote:
Reason #1: It'll give Iggy Azalea a chance to prove that she can actually rap.
Even though she's got one of the most popular songs in the country right now, people are still skeptical about how well Iggy can rap. Now is her time to show and prove. Even if she doesn't end up getting into a beef with Nicki, fans are questioning her ability to write and rap songs. So she'll get her chance in the near future to either prove them wrong or right with whatever project she puts out next.
Reason #2: It'll provide Nicki Minaj with some friendly—or, in this case, maybe some not-so-friendly—competition.
Let's be honest here: The Best Female Hip-Hop Artist award at the BET Awards was a joke. There was really no chance for anyone but Nicki to win it. So it's pretty clear that she needs someone to step up and push her. And we think that that's exactly what Iggy could and should do and what Nicki needs in order to continue to improve as an artist. Competition is good for rappers and, thanks to what she said at the BET Awards, Nicki should probably get some from Iggy now.
Reason #3: It'll allow Iggy Azalea to segue from "Fancy" into the next stage of her career.
Although Iggy is still riding high off the success of "Fancy," that song won't stay at the top of the charts forever. And while she does have a guest verse on Ariana Grande's "Problem" that'll keep her on the charts for awhile, Iggy needs to continue to put out more solo work to stay relevant. A real beef with Nicki would keep her name in the news as she continues to bang out new tracks in the studio. It'll give her the chance to build on the success of "Fancy" without necessarily landing on another hit single right away.
Reason #4: It'll help Nicki Minaj promote her upcoming album, The Pink Print.
We want to see Nicki win with this next ablum. And while we're pretty sure she will, regardless of whether or not she beefs with Iggy Azalea, the beef definitely wouldn't hurt matters. In fact, it would lead to a lot more attention for the project and help her promote it even better than she would be able to without it.
Reason #5: It'll make female rap fun—like, really fun—for the first time in, well, a really long time.
When's the last time that two female rappers went at each other and made everyone care about their beef? You could argue that Nicki and Lil Kim's beef a couple years ago was important. But truthfully, Kim was past her prime at that point. Iggy is just coming into her own and Nicki is at the top when it comes to female rappers right now, so that in and of itself could make a beef between the two artists compelling.
Reason #6: It'll either make or break Iggy Azalea's career.
It's put up or shut up time for Iggy if she decides to go to war with Nicki. A lyrical loss to her would certainly not bode well for her career and could potentially end it. But that's what would make a beef between the two artists so intriguing. We could potentially see Iggy's star glow even brighter than it already is if she were to go toe-to-toe with Nicki and hold her own.
Reason #7: It'll put some pressure on Nicki Minaj and force her to come with nothing but her A-game for the next few months.
By making the speech that she chose to make during the BET Awards, Nicki essentially told the world that she's the No. 1 female rapper on the planet—without actually saying those words. And because she boasted about writing her own rhymes, she now has to back it up by writing good rhymes in the months to come. That should hopefully result in some of the best music of her career.
Reason #8: It'll (probably) lead to a Nicki/Iggy collaboration in a year or two.
Okay, okay, so a Nicki/Iggy song won't be as crazy as, say, some of the Jay Z/Nas songs have been. But if Iggy can hold her own in a beef with Nicki and these two can legitimize themselves as the No. 1 and No. 2 female rappers in the game through their beef, a collabo could be in their future. And it would be big news as far as both female rap and rap in general goes. So with that in mind, we aren't all that upset to hear that Nicki and Iggy could be going to war soon. As long as they fight fair and push each other, it could actually benefit both parties.

I have been wanting Nicki to have a female rapper than can rival her . So Nicki can prove that she can still be a boss bitch with another female rapper involved

This is what I've BEEN saying. Folks have been all in their feelings talking about egos and pettiness and throwing shade, but feuds are part of what make hip-hop fun. I'm not talking like Pac vs. Biggie shoot outs and murder, but Nas vs. Jay-Z disses on tracks and stuff.
People act like because Iggy & Nicki are women they should conduct themselves in a certain manner. I say **** that. I expect all rappers to be cocky and boastful, and it's exciting to see what music could potentially come out of this. If they want to pave the way for a new generation of female rappers, why can't they play the same games the boys do?

Nicki would rap circles around the other one.. Iggy's ghostwriter wouldn't be able to keep up.

i don't want a beef. This so called "beef" has been brought on by the public. I love both Iggy and Nicki. Though I'm not the biggest rap music fan, I do know that these two together can help change the landscape of rap. Help bring more female rappers in the game. Having a beef will only make it harder for other female rappers coming in the game, because they will always be pitted against one another.
We already have tons of male rappers... Let's change the game.

It'll be like the Lil Kim/Nicki thing...
and Nicki will end up being called bitter for dissing Iggy.
I will never support this happening

No shade, but Iggy wouldn't be able to handle it, Nicki would destroy her

I 100% agree with every point they made. Rap feuds are essential in Hip Hop culture, even if it's just friendly competition, it usually brings out the best in each artist.

I disagree. A Nicki Minaj/Iggy Azalea beef would only be good for Nicki Minaj since she desperately needs the publicity right now since her first single drastically underperformed and there's literally no buzz around her album, "The Pink Print." A beef wouldn't really benefit Iggy Azalea because she's already surpassed Nicki Minaj and is at the top of the game right now. Iggy Azalea doesn't need the beef for publicity as much as Nicki Minaj does.

It was bound to happen. Every girl has an "arch" enemy. For Katy, it's Gaga. For Rihanna, it's Beyoncé. And Vise-versa.
At the end of the day, you can't be better than someone when half you're attention is on not slipping your accent and the other half is keeping up with the beat. So when it comes to skill and talent, there's only one real winner. Being the rapping Katy Perry, that's cute too tho.
Iggy doesn't have the skill to compete with Nicki when it comes to bars. That's what makes Nicki a true hip-hop artist and not Iggy. When all is said and done, Iggy is a mediocre rapper on her best day.

Obviously it would be good for them but it's also unnecessary.
Especially when Nicki is criticizing Iggy for things ("authenticity") that could have easily been said about her back in the Lil Kim feud days.
