Firefighters and a bomb squad team were trying to determine Wednesday why a propane tank on a Guatemalan food truck exploded on a Philadelphia street, injuring 11 people.
The massive fireball critically injured a woman, 42, and her 17-year-old daughter, who were working in the truck. Police chief inspector Scott Small said the pair suffered burns over much of their bodies.
.. The truck exploded Tuesday evening outside an auto body shop in the city's Feltonville neighborhood. The 4-foot propane tank burst violently, sailing 150 feet and landing in a residential backyard.
Michael Blackie told the Daily News he was about a block away when he heard a boom so loud he thought it was an earthquake.
"It sounded like a bus blew up," Blackie said. He came upon the ruck and saw a woman on the street "smoldering, like something out of CSI."
