My family encourages me to drink alcohol but LORD knows if I started smoking pot.

Why?

Because people are ignorant and brainwashed

Cuz parents think weed will lead to worse drugs like XTC or Heroine...
But weed in society is looked upon as normal as alcohol nowadays.. It's just some old ppl.

How the **** is alcohol encouraged? Unless you are an uneducated parent or you're just a victim of the ads on TV.

Because alcohol has always been a part of western history. They even tried to take it away in the 20s and it resulted in the drunkest, most rebellion filled decade of American history.

People just can't give up their alcohol and a lot of money is made from it. The same can, and will, be done with weed but it'll take another generation for it to be done in full.

I think my mom is the same if she ever caught me smoking I think she would die even though her and my father would smoke in the house when I was younger

Alcohol is definately ****ing encouraged in our society... think of the culture we have because of the media showing fun times drinking for all kinds of places: sports, clubs, music venues, bars, restaurants, swanky social events, weddings, parties, and just about anything.

The media has told us that alcohol is fun, and it can be, and we are also very susceptible to the media. You are just lying to yourself if you think you aren't somehow affected by: ads, tv shows, movies, video games, music, tabloids, magazines, the news, etc. all showing drinking as fun and so easy! and wow! enjoyable! Wahoo! yum. tastey

It's not where I live

Not even forgetting how acceptable it is for underage drinking, in fact, it is even encouraged. Parties in high schools are purposefully made for drinking because it's seen as adult and rebellious.

Weed is seen as a gateway drug, which is true for some people.

Drinking > weed.

Alcohol is encouraged because it is legal (depending on your age). Weed is an illegal substance that still has this negative stigma attached to it. I am certain if it were legal for the last half century no one would give a damn about weed That's just the culture some of us live in, but change is near!

Because weed is illegal

Because weed makes holes in your brain

Alcohol just makes you jovial

Wasn't it said in the past that weed made white women want black men and that's how it became illegal?

Not to mention the media's ever so casual way of glossing over the horrible side of alcohol, like the addiction, car accidents, broken relationships, emotional breakdowns, large capacity to get people arrested, abuse, rape, and violence all attached to drinking.
