I don't think they worked with the same team. Yes, they both worked with Max Martin, but besides Max, their teams are entirely different. Taylor worked with Diane Warren, Ryan Tedder (and Nathan Chapman most probably). Possible collabs include Zedd (they sort of hinted at a collab by tweeting "Back in the studio..uh oh" at the exact same time), Imogen Heap and Jack Antonoff of Fun.
Anyway, I see Ariana's going really pop with this album. Just a look at the tracklist tells me that every song was made to be a hit (and I don't think every single will be a hit anyway).

I really have a feeling R8 could be the defining album of Rih's career. I hope she doesn't ruin it with another lazy sloppy era. Rih's music and Katy's marketing would really make the dream career

Rih is working with so many unknown producers, I love that, i ain't care for no hits she ain't got nothing left to prove anymore, serve me substance and deepness

Katy should have just released 2 singles: Roar and Dark Horse and be done with the era
no need to get overexposed like during the TD era - not that it hurt her, but still (poor Gaga)
and maybe a 3rd single just before the tour: either Unconditionally (not a bad single choice at all, just horrible timing) or Legendary Lovers and be done with the era. The tour would have been more than enough to keep the album sales up

I don't think people really had expectations for her last 2 eras. People were annoyed TTT cut the Loud era short, and people thought Unapologetic was gonna flop Diamonds kinda had a weak start, and it was her 7th album in 7 years. She has to bring a lot this era though - I don't doubt she will bring the hits, but the delivery could be sloppy again. I hope its not
