And people wonder why Katy and Gaga fans are constantly at each other's throats? Threads like these do nothing but instigate arguments for no reason Neither of them is 'over' and therefore neither has outlasted the other.
Gaga's music isn't generic at all. It's a lot more interesting and unique than Katy recent tracks. The most generic song by Gaga this era was Fashion! and she almost paid it dust. The only really remarkable song PRISM has is Legendary Lovers and Katy is too scare to release it and flop, and instead bring us the generic cr4p of TIHWD.

Despite making "generic" music, Katy has been able to become a music staple and continues to grow with each era. On the other side of the coin, Gaga makes equally as generic music, yet loses momentum with each passing day.
I feel like Katy's progression of sound is a lot slower and more organic than Gaga. Prism features some darker, more adult-oriented songs (Legendary Lovers, Dark Horse, etc.) and still had some pure Pop tracks (Roar, TIHWD, etc) so she's not too screwed over. Gaga on the other hand went all in with the darker and more serious sounds of TFM and BTW with nothing to ease the transition along and keep the GP interested. Now ARTPOP's lighter and Poppier sound has come too late, everyone's already moved on.
