He DID diminish, while he was alive. The GP didn't buy his albums or singles in the bulks. He was not invited to perform his new material anywhere big. Of course he diminished, like every artist does after being in the music business for more than 35 years. What artist stays on top for 3 or 4 decades?
But people still bought his albums, the Thriller 25 album released in 2008 sold 5-6 million copies. What new material wasn't he invited to perform when he didn't release any new material since 2001? And not to forget his record breaking This Is It tour that sold out in hours.

so i'm not even a gaga stan/fan, but she was the first thought that came to my mind when i saw these five, and i think she's the only one next in line to fulfill these "requirements."
every album, she continues to develop (even though AP was a ****tard), and whether it's good or not, she keeps growing with her music. also, she doesn't just make the same old music everyone else is making. again, be impartial--whether you like her music or not (like me: i don't), you can't deny that she's doing her own thing. no one else would (want to) sing/write/put out the songs and albums she is, because they're weird. i wouldn't call her a visionary exactly, but i respect her for always following her decision, even when it is clearly a bad one lmfao

no one can deny she works very hard; katy perry is probably the only person who worked harder and experienced more difficulty to achieve fame. and gaga can sing her ass off. even though she oversings sometimes, her voice is great, and again no one can deny that. she's very skilled musically (piano and vocals).

she wasn't born a star, but i do thing she was born to be one. again, she's not exactly my cup of tea (i prefer my faves to be good songwriters and not so pop), but i gotta admit the obvious about her: that she is a talented, hard-working musician.
