She did get backlash, but Ja Rule stood up for her. Murder Inc RULED hip hop at the time, so J.Lo got a pass for association. She definitely got backlash tho.

Here in Texas, even if you're Hispanic, like me, most black people still would not be ok with you using it unless they really knew you. I don't use it just because I sound stupid and I think non-black people in general sound stupid for saying it.

You probably get a pass with your other friends but I've seen some latinos use the n word and they get their asses handed to them and in my opinion they deserved the beating. Yes freedom of speech but if you're asian, white, or latino and use the N word then you can't expect not to get your ass beated by them. It never was ok for latinos to use the N-word. Yes some of us have black ancestors but we also have asian and white blood in us as well so that doesn't make us okay for us to use the word. I totally understand why black people are offended by J-hoes comment.

If that were the only reason not to say Black Americans wouldn't use it either lol.

Nobody should use it, but I'm not surprised J.Lo said it. She's from New York. The majority of Latinos there are Dominican & Puerto Rican. They're also the two groups most likely to go by the one drop rule and identify as black(not like they have a choice).

No one should use it cause it's vile but I'm kinda shocked J.lo did get backlash.

Yes it's okay. If I was famous it would be in my songs tbh. I don't understand the whole "can" and "cannot" when it comes to saying it. Like people can say whatever they want. It's how others react that makes the difference.

At the time it wasn't a big deal to hear the word in a song. SO many songs from 01-05 used it and they were all hits, so it just kind of blended in.

But personally, I don't think the use of it is ok.

No. Hispanics say it all the time and that makes me feel sometype of way. But it's not as bad as when white ppl do.

I said Puerto Ricans, I don't know Columbians & Mexicans over here. & I said Puerto Ricans. I can't speak for the rest of Latinos. & I'm only speaking for New York City

i don't know what puerto ricans you meet, but most of them insist they're white and are racist towards blacks... even though most are not fully white and many of them have black ancestors
