Nickelback Trots Out Dark Horse In November

The next album from Nickelback will be called Dark Horse, and it's set for release on November 18 via Roadrunner Records. Starting at 6 a.m. on Monday, September 29, the first single, "Gotta Be Somebody," will be available as a free download for 24 hours at participating radio station Web sites, as well as Nickelback.com and nickelback.roadrunnerrecords.com. The single also will hit radio airwaves on Monday, and following the free download, it will be available for purchase at all online retailers.

Dark Horse was recorded in the band's hometown of Vancouver and was co-produced by Nickelback and famed Rock producer Mutt Lange (AC/DC, Def Leppard). Frontman Chad Kroeger and his brother, bassist Mike Kroeger, recently told the BBC, "There's a lot of truly filthy subject matter and adult themes." Chad added, "You just grab new themes and the ones that always seem to connect, like love, or lack thereof. Those ones are always good. You just have to throw a different spin on them."

As previously reported, Nickelback signed a 360 deal with Live Nation in July that will encompass touring, albums, merchandising and other things. However, they still have two albums left to deliver for Roadrunner. "They just seem like they really know what they're doing," Chad told the BBC about signing with Live Nation. "They are not interested in promoting records traditionally at all. We want to keep moving with the times."

Nickelback plans to embark on a world tour in 2009.
