When it comes to sales showdowns with 50 Cent, it looks like Kanye West has already been there, done that. He and 50 were poised to release new albums within a week of each other in December, marking a repeat of their 2007 chart battle, but now Kanye has moved up the street date of his new album, 808s and Heatbreak, to November.
"I changed my album to November something, 'cause I finished the album and I felt like it," West posted on his blog under a picture of him and Young Jeezy in the studio. "I want y'all to hear it as soon as possible."
The album's single, "Love Lockdown," is already being well-received. It debuted at a career-best #3 on the Billboard Hot 100, thanks to first-week digital download sales of 213,000, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Kanye also posted audio tracks from "Love Lockdown" on his blog so that fans can remix the track just for fun.
Additionally, earlier this week, The Hollywood Reporter said Kanye is now a producer behind a new children's puppet show. Described as "Hip-Hop meets the Muppets," Alligator Boots is a new pilot for Comedy Central which would be executive produced by West and fellow Chicago rapper Rhymefest. The series comes from Jackhole Productions, the company co-founded by Jimmy Kimmel and Adam Carolla. Alligator Boots (a tentative title) would feature a guest host every week. West hosts the pilot episode.
