I do all the time!!

I drop them on my knife blade, if the blade will cleanly slice the grape into two halves under the grape's own weight, it's sharp! It's a good way to see if your knife is dull or not.

Here's a knife of mine which always passes the grape test be careful when handling, it will go to the bone before you even feel it!

this trick is old as hell. You can do it with other berries and fruits too.

They're doing it to put it in chicken salad, not to eat.

So you're telling me the cut grapes are merely a decoration for the chicken salad, and wouldn't be eaten as part of the dish?

I guess you could cut them in half for fruit salad or chicken salad.

Well I'm talking about eating whole by themselves. They're going to be eaten in the chicken salad, and eating a whole grape in something that's supposed to have some sort of consistency probably won't be joyful to eat.

Guys parents cut grapes in half for their babies/toddlers to eat because a baby could easily choke on a whole grape. You're not supposed to feed babies whole grapes.
