1.Some People are jealous of her incredible success in a short amount of time and so find immense joy when she stumbles.
2.Others dislike her and feel her entire act is contrived, and so put her down because they feel she doesnt deserve to be a success.

Well, for every obsessed monster worshipping her style of breathing, there needs to be someone else who criticizes her breathing style as to balance things out.

She's done her damnest to be a divisive pop figure, even amongst her fanbase. While the general populace has been numbed to her antics, this is a pop music forum, Gaga's going to be brought up one way or another. And considering her recent train wreck of an era, it probably won't be anything nice.

Anyways, to answer the OP - People are more fascinated with those that are fallen or falling than they are with those at the top.

The social zeitgeist. Tearing people down is enjoyable to the media, the GP and even the stans. Don't feel bad for her though, she knew exactly what being famous would mean and she also plays the game.

I don't think it's because she is "the next Queen of Pop" - I think it's because she was meant to be "the next Queen of Pop" and she isn't living up to it. She's not delivering what everyone would have expected of her between 2008-10. She's being overtaken by her contemporaries and no one saw it coming. Consequently, her loyal diehard fans are defending her while the masses jump ship.
