The supreme court will keep putting it off man. But in reality they have no choice. THEY are the ones who set the precedent with their DOMA ruling. Their legal reasoning for Doma leaves zero room for state-based discrimination against gay marriage.

Every state has sued and only Nevada will let it go and let people marry. The rest could fight even Circuit Court decisions like Utah said it will. Chances are we'll lose the 5th Circuit, but that might speed up the process because circuit splits mean that the Supremes will act since they like to have the final word.
It's reaffirming them that they're defending the impossible.
I hope at least one person in charge in one of those states comes to their senses and stops defending their ban
