Seven other acts that have emerged since January 2000 are listed on Nielsen SoundScan's running list of the best-selling album artists since 1991:

21. Avril Lavigne (12,305,000)
22. Justin Timberlake (11,993,000)
23. Maroon 5 (11,576,000)
24. Jack Johnson (11,432,000)
25. Evanescence (11,257,000)
26. Justin Bieber (10,630,000)
27. Disturbed (10,624,000)

Taylor debuted after Rihanna and released half as many albums yet she's the top solo and female artist + she will end up at #1 when it's all said and done.

Only 3 out of 27 acts on the list released more albums than Rihanna (each act only one more album) so there's no excuse.
