Rick Rubin is one of the best, if not the best (IMO), producers of all times - he couldn't have said it any better. She is essentially a rock artist that is competing against manufactured pop stars - she started her career with a much more rock influenced sound & has always been at the forefront of her live/rock band since day one. The music Rick Rubin produced with Shakira on Fijación Oral Vol. 1 remains some of the best Spanish tracks of all time.

True....She said it herself...she doesn't like to make songs like fast food hamburgers. She spends time on them and makes 50 versions of one song and produces the whole thing....She is the complete package..
